Santos Fires Back at Ethics Investigation, Vows to Reveal Colleagues’ Secrets

George Santos acknowledged his upcoming potential expulsion from Congress. However, he wasn’t going out without first dragging down some of his colleagues. Here’s the whole story. 

Santos Will Wear His Expulsion “Like a Badge of Honor”

During a live audio conversation in an X Space, Rep. George Santos said he would wear his expulsion from the House of Representatives “like a badge of honor.”

Sixth Expelled Member of Congress

Santos told conservative media personality Monica Matthews that he would be the “sixth expelled member of Congress in the history of Congress” but that he would be “the only one expelled without a conviction.”

Michael Guest Introduced Resolution to Expel Santos

The Republican chair of the House Ethics Committee, Rep. Michael Guest of Mississippi, introduced the resolution to expel Santos from Congress.

“The Dude From Mississippi”

In his conversation with Monica Matthews, Santos referred to Guest as “the dude from Mississippi”. He said it wouldn’t be Guest who “kicks him out of Congress.”

Alleged Misconduct Investigation

The House Ethics Committee has investigated Santos for several months over a “wide range of alleged misconduct.” 

Campaign Money Used for Personal Purchases

The investigation found Santos used campaign money for personal use, such as “luxury purchases at Hermes, Ferragamo, Sephora, OnlyFans, and Botox.” 

Santos’ Charges

According to the United States Attorney’s Office, Congressman George Santos is being charged with “conspiracy, wire fraud, false statements, falsification of records, aggravated identity theft, and credit card fraud.”

“Personal Financial Profit”

In their report, investigators said, “Representative Santos sought to fraudulently exploit every aspect of his House candidacy for his own personal financial profit.”

Santos Was Uncooperative

House Ethics Committee investigators also said Santos was uncooperative during the investigation and “repeatedly evaded straightforward requests for information.”

“Slanderous” Report

During his X Space conversation with Monica Matthews, Santos said the report was “slanderous” and “designed to force [him] out of [his] seat.”

Santos Defends Himself

Santos said he expects to be expelled once the House votes on the matter but would “defend [himself] to the end of time.”

Santos Doesn’t Want to Work With “Hypocrites”

Santos said the reason he isn’t running for reelection is because he doesn’t want to “work with a bunch of hypocrites.” 

Santos Called Out His Colleagues

Santos called his colleagues “gross,” saying, “I have colleagues who are more worried about getting drunk every night with the next lobbyist that they’re gonna screw and pretend like none of us know what’s going on.”

Critics Didn’t Take Santos’ Side

Many critics were not on Santos’ side after his conversation with Monica Matthews. One person said Santos “needs to look in the mirror and evaluate himself before calling out other people.”

Return the Money
